"The Boys" say,
Hello
So,
how's your week been?
If you've been by Kittens 'n
Things, you know "The Boys" and I and
Chuck have had a bit of excitement going on since Saturday (January
29), what with Bowie having an asthma attack that lasted a little
longer than we were comfortable with (see "Scary
Morning" at Kittens
'n Things) to get the skivvy!
And
then the neighbor's garage exploded...details of that are in my this
week's "On the
Bright Side" ezine, which I published February 4, 2011.
Long story
short, the garage is right next-door to us, the garage is a total loss
(we actually thought the neighbor might be in the garage as he often
spends hours in his garage working on his art sculpting/welding
business/hobby) and their house was scorched on the west
side.
The smoke was black and pretty thick a
few times, and Chuck and I were really concerned all that smoke
might not be good for Bowie. As it
was, we could smell the smoke in our kitchen for several
hours afterward.
Yours
in furriendship,
and
"The
Boys"

Days
of Our Meows
The Boys are Boring
You
would think that even though they are in their senior years
they'd still come up with some fun antics to help kill the
boredom that comes around after the Holidays in the
wintertime--until spring.
But no luck!
All they've been doing lately is sleeping. They're "beauties" already,
so it's not like they have to "get their beauty sleep!" (Proud mother
here!)
Mikey is the one who seems to have the most energy now. And he
definitely
makes up for what the others don't have...or what the others don't
exhibit.
Except at "tuna time!"
Then all bets are off.
Taking
Care of Kitty
How to Make Your Cat Happy
by JD Benson
Everybody
knows that cats are animals with a great calm and would do anything to
make their owners feels as good as possible. Therefore, you should
always try to do anything possible to make your cat feel happy.
There are a great number of methods that are not expensive at all.
Understand
your cat
The
good understanding between the cat and its owner is a very important
step for the development of a good relationship. Always try to pay
attention to every gesture of your pet. Even if you do not have very
much time, a few minutes a day would make your cat very happy. Be
attentive to her needs.
Pamper
her
If you watch TV and the
little animal comes next to you, you will defiinitely want it to feel
as
comfortable as possible. This does not require a lot of
effort
and you can watch TV and give your cat attention at the same time. Your
cat needs to know that she is loved.
Let
her rest whenever she needs it
Cats
sleep over and over, being one of the laziest pets one can own. On the
other hand, they can be full of life if they want to and feel
in the
mood for this. You should always keep in mind that usually cats require
sleep after eating. Do not deprive your pet of this desire. In this
way, she will also understand you when you require getting some rest
yourself.
Give
your animal its favorite foods
Cats do not want to eat the same food every day. The more you vary it,
the more contented your pet will be.
Play
with her yourself!
You
do not need to spend much money on expensive toys for cats. Simply
attach a small jumping ball to a wire and you will make your cat the
happiest animal. If the animal does not seem interested in the toy, it
means that you need to intervene in the game.
Change
the water and bedding
Cats
want to drink fresh water always. It only takes 2 minutes to change it.
Moreover, you should also try to change the bedding as often as
possible
in order to always keep it clean. This process does not require a great
effort either and it takes only about 5 minutes.
Finally, always remember: Love your cat because in
this way
she will share the same feeling for you.

What's
New Pussy Cat?
Cat/Dog Pet Soft Cozy Bed
Play House
"The
Boys," our "Cat
Seen Investigators" (CSI), like nosing around the Internet
for really cool toys
and all kinds of
stuff that might catch the eye of any discerning kitty.
This week,
they present the ...
Cat/Dog Pet Soft Cozy Bed
Play House
According to Amazon,
"This
colla psible
pet house provides stylish, comfortable and secure resting place
for your kitty.
- Lightweight body for
easy moving around and made of durable fabric supported by cushioning foam.
- Velcro allows this pet
house to collapse in seconds to a flat, easily-portable size
- Fully cushioned on all sides
and soft cover cushion for more comfort
While "The
Boys" do not have this specific Cat/Dog Pet Soft Cozy Bed
Play House,
like the one
pictured, they do have a couple of bed/houses one is a red-green plaid, the other is a navy
blue and has little designs on it. Theirs are big enough they can
"get lost in" them if they want, and they can take their naps
in them.
They
absolutely, positively love them.
Actually, they love the thought of any bed--whether it's theirs or ours.
"The Boys" also have plenty of similar snooze places to be able to say
they absolutely
love the thought of this
one and are thrilled to give
it
paws up!
It's
Your
Turn
Charlie
and Me
As
you know, "The Boys"
and I "travel around the web," looking at all of the really neat kitty
blogs that we can feature here in "It's Your turn."
So today, we're doing a re-run - in case you missed "Charlie" the first
time around, showered with love and affection by Jennifer, aka, "Old Kitty!"
"Old Kitty" tells
it like this...
"I first met Charlie over the Interne t.
I only noticed him because he was featured in a blog ran by an editor
who blogged
about the publishing business and other author-related posts. So when
she featured Charlie as looking for a new home because her owner (the
editor's friend) could no longer keep him, it was certainly a most
unusual post to remember!
At that time I was only two months into my blogging adventure. I was
also looking after my very sickly and elderly cat - my tough ol' girl -
who was nearly 18 years old but suffering from a very aggressive form
of renal Lymphoma.
Unfortunately she died soon after. I had always declared how I w ould
never think of getting another cat during her illness. But after my
cat's death I kept
thinking of that blog post about Charlie.
I really thought that he would have found a home by the time I
contacted the editor's blog. To my surprise
I was told that Charlie was still looking for a home and that his owner
was desperate because she did not want to leave him in a cat shelter
that was the only option for her. After a week of long phone
conversations and lots of email exchanges, Charlie was finally
delivered to me.
I miss my tough ol' girl very much but living with Charlie who is eight
years old, healthy and fit and raring to embrace life has helped me so
much.
I'm very glad for the blogging world for bringing him to me."
And look at that tummy! in the photo left, above ^^^!

Who
We Meow Are
The McGreeveys
I'm
Karen
McGreevey, "keeper of the kids." "The Boys" at our house
include:
Jonny Cat, II -
named for Jonny Cat, who was in our "first family," and for a sack of
cat litter. I'll have to tell you that story one of these days.
Michael Anthony
(Mikey or Mikki - depending upon whether I spell his name or Chuck, my
husband, spells it). Mikey is named after an expensive line of
jewelry--because he's "mighty fine"!
Daniel Boone -
Although Daniel's no longer with us. We called him "Daniel" for short.
And he and Mikey were "true brothers" as they were from the same
litter.
Wild "Bill" Hickok -
Who is really just "Billy".
Buffalo Bill "Cody" -
Unfortunately, is also "gone". He left us way too young.
Jim "Bowie" -
We call him "Bowie" (Booie), although as the "baby" he could easily be
called the "brat" but that wouldn't be nice!
Chuck - The
daddy of "The Boys", and husband of Karen.
All
six
were/are Purebred Persians, with babydoll faces. (Their faces are
sprinkled throughout this ezine, on the left-side of each topic
section.) They do not have the really smashed nose, which is a
characteristic of some Persians.
Except
Jonny; he's close - "by a nose"!
